At Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, we have intensified our research and engagement in climate and disaster risk finance and insurance. We manage the InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF) and the Global Shield Solutions Platform (GSSP).
ISF and GSSP are innovative programmes, funded by European Governments, that are designed to support and develop financial products for climate risks that mitigate the negative effects of climate-related disasters such as droughts, heat waves and floods. Within their mandates, the programmes work closely with partners in developing countries to support detailed climate risk analysis, the development and application of financing solutions, and the dissemination of knowledge to relevant stakeholder groups. The focus of this position will be to support the conceptual design and implementation of country programmes and subsequent monitoring of activities.
The position is limited to 12 months (parental leave replacement with option to extend).
Your Tasks
- Support the assessment of submitted proposals to ISF and monitor projects co-funded by the programme.
- Support the conceptual design and implementation of country support programmes (coordination of climate and disaster risk finance projects) as well as partners in developing countries to build own capacities and know-how in climate and disaster risk finance adapting to the respective local context.
- Support regular exchanges with project experts and partners, draft meeting reports, review, and review contracts and project reports. You will also contribute to ISF and GSSP reports.
- Contribute to partnerships and publications to disseminate the overall programme results in the development cooperation context.
- Support in the acquisition of new projects, including the identification of opportunities, preparation of expressions of interest and technical proposals, expert recruitment, and other related activities.
Your Profile
- Master's degree in economics, finance, natural sciences, engineering, or a related field.
- Keen interest in project coordination in a complex environment with a broad range of actors.
- Prior knowledge and experience in climate and disaster risk finance and insurance and/or work experience in developing countries is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (main working language is English); knowledge of German and French is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills, openness, strong communication and organisational skills.
- High level of cultural sensitivity, ability to work in a multi-cultural team and willingness to travel within Europe and to developing countries.
