ISF and GSSP are innovative programmes, funded by European Governments, that are designed to support and develop financial products for climate risks that mitigate the negative effects of climate-related disasters such as droughts, heat waves and floods. Within their mandates, the programmes work closely with partners in developing countries to support detailed climate risk analysis, the development and application of financing solutions, and the dissemination of knowledge to relevant stakeholder groups. The focus of this position will be to support the conceptual design and implementation of country programmes and subsequent monitoring of activities.

  • Design, implement and improve analytical methodologies and modelling workflows for assessing physical climate risks, drawing on climate science, geospatial analysis and quantitative programming.
  • Conduct applied research on climate risk analytics, emerging datasets and modelling approaches, translating scientific developments into practical tools and methodologies for international development projects.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings through technical reports, publications, visualisations, presentations and policy-oriented knowledge products for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide technical advisory support to governments, development partners and project teams by contributing quantitative evidence to project design, implementation and capacity development activities.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary and international teams to integrate climate risk analytics into broader climate adaptation, disaster risk management and climate risk finance initiatives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (main working language is English); knowledge of German, and French or Spanish is an advantage.
  • Understanding of physical climate risks, knowledge of climate risk finance, disaster risk management and / or climate adaptation is an asset.
